The Palestine Red Crescent Society called for an end to the Israeli occupation forces' attacks on its crews and vehicles.
PRCS said, in a statement that reached SAFA on Wednesday, that it is looking very seriously at the attack by a number of Israeli soldiers yesterday at Tayseer checkpoint in the northern Jordan Valley, on a crew and an ambulance while providing first- aid to a person injured by a rubber bullet.
"Some soldiers entered the ambulance trying to arrest the injured person by force without being accompanied by any medical staff, confirming that the ambulance was targeted by tear- gas while treating the injured," PRCS stated.
PRCS expresses its grave concern over the deliberate targeting of emergency medical teams in the line of duty while under the protection of the Society’s emblem and uniform. Such practices constitute a serious violation of International Humanitarian Law provisions, especially those stating that the occupying power should facilitate the work of Red Cross and Red Crescent National Societies.
