Palestinian Citizen Sa’da Lost his Son, Home but Stayed Steadfast in Jabalia Camp

Mohammed Sa’da, 57, has endured unimaginable suffering in Jabalia Camp, northern Gaza. After his home was destroyed by the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) during their recent military operation, Sa’da remained unbroken. Despite the heavy losses, including the death of his son, Abdul Fattah, and the destruction of his three-story house, Sa’da stayed in the camp, determined to rebuild his life amidst the rubble.

In October 2024, the Israeli operation devastated northern Gaza, particularly Jabalia Camp, with over 5,000 martyrs and 9,500 injuries. Sa’da lost his son Abdul Fattah to an Israeli tank shell on January 18, 2024. Yet, even in the face of these horrific losses, Sa’da declared his resolve: “We will stay in the camp and will not abandon it, no matter the cost.”

Living in a tent on the remains of his home with his seven-member family, Sa’da refuses to leave, even though they lack basic necessities like drinking water. His commitment to his home and community reflects the resilience of a people determined to survive and resist, no matter the hardships they face.

Though he has lost almost everything, Sa’da continues to find strength in his faith, saying, “Hasbuna Allah wa ni’mal wakeel. May God have mercy on Abdul Fattah.”
