Gaza: Hamas Announces the Release of Franco-Israeli prisoner Ofer Calderon on Saturday

As part of the ongoing ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in Gaza, three more Israeli prisoners are set to be released this Saturday, including Franco-Israeli Ofer Calderon and American-Israeli Keith Siegel.

A Hamas spokesperson announced on Friday that Calderon would be among those freed. The group released the names of the three prisoners to be handed over as part of the truce agreement. Alongside Calderon, the other two prisoners are Keith Siegel and Israeli national Yarden Bibas. The Prisoners Families Forum confirmed the announcement after notifying the affected families. This will mark the fourth exchange of prisoners for Palestinian prisoners held by Israel, with 15 prisoners having been released since 19 January.

Following the announcement, Calderon's family issued a statement expressing both relief and apprehension. "It is an immense joy mixed with paralysing anxiety. We are waiting impatiently to finally reunite with Ofer. But until he is in our arms, we will not dare to believe it," wrote his ex-wife, Hadas, and their children Gaya, Rotem, Sahar, and Erez.

"Our thoughts remain with all the prisoners still held in captivity. Let us not forget them. They must be brought back to their families now," the statement concluded.
