At the Rafah Crossing on the border with the Gaza Strip, thousands of Egyptians gathered, raising slogans in solidarity with the Palestinian people and rejecting the forced displacement plan of Palestinians to Egypt.
The protest came in response to a call by the Egyptian Social Democratic Party, which urged popular forces, political parties, and professional unions to participate in a popular delegation to reject the displacement of Palestinians.
This was a reaction to U.S. President Donald Trump’s suggestion that Egypt and Jordan should take in more Palestinians, justifying it by stating that Gaza is completely devastated and in a state of total chaos.
Representatives of Egyptian political forces emphasized that displacement constitutes a liquidation of the Palestinian cause, a violation of the Palestinian people's right to self-determination, and an attempt to force them to leave their land without return.
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi had previously stated that relocating the Palestinian people would be an injustice in which Egypt cannot participate.
Since the start of the agreement between Israel and Hamas, the Rafah Crossing has witnessed an active movement, including the entry of aid into Gaza and the reception of injured Palestinians for treatment in Egyptian hospitals.
