The Electricity Distribution Company in Gaza has issued an urgent distress call for equipment needed to restore power networks, as severe weather and storms worsen the already dire humanitarian crisis. For 15 months, Gaza has suffered continuous blackouts, crippling essential services such as healthcare, water supply, and telecommunications.
The company warned that power outages, combined with freezing temperatures, endanger thousands, particularly the sick and injured. Hospitals are struggling to function without electricity, while the paralysis of public services, mills, and bakeries threatens survival. Despite repeated appeals, no urgent electricity needs have been met, making repairs nearly impossible.
With no sign of relief, the company urged immediate international intervention, warning that delays would deepen the catastrophe and cost more lives.
