A Palestinian woman, Sundus Jamal Mohamed Shalabi (23 years old), and her unborn child were martyred, and her husband was critically injured by Israeli occupation forces' gunfire during their aggression on the Nur Shams refugee camp east of Tulkarem on Sunday.
The Ministry of Health reported that Sundus, who was in her eighth month of pregnancy, was martyred along with her baby, while her husband sustained critical head injuries.
The medical teams in Tulkarem were unable to save the baby's life due to the Israeli occupation’s obstruction of the transport of the injured to the hospital. Sundus was brought in as a martyr with her baby, and her husband was transferred to hospitals in Ramallah due to the severity of his condition.
The Israeli forces had prevented the Red Crescent teams from reaching the injured inside the Nur Shams camp, but after some time, they managed to reach the martyr and her husband, transferring them to the Martyr Thabit Thabit Government Hospital in Tulkarem. However, they were unable to reach two other injured people inside the camp.
Eyewitnesses reported that Israeli snipers, positioned in homes they had seized, fired live ammunition at the woman and her husband in the Jabal al-Salih area of the camp as they tried to leave their home and go to a safer location.
With the martyrdom of Sundus Shalabi, the number of martyrs in Tulkarem during the ongoing Israeli aggression on the city and its camps over the past 14 days has risen to six.
