Trump Threatens Escalation if Israeli Prisoners Are Not Released by Saturday

US President Donald Trump has issued an ultimatum, demanding the release of all Israeli prisoners held in Gaza by Saturday noon. He warned that failure to comply would lead to the cancellation of the ceasefire and the unleashing of severe military action.

Speaking from the Oval Office, Trump also suggested that the US might suspend aid to Jordan and Egypt unless they agreed to receive displaced Palestinians from Gaza—a move widely condemned as an attempt at forced displacement. His remarks come amid ongoing Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement, which has already cost hundreds more Palestinian lives. The agreement, initially designed to secure a phased prisoner exchange, has faced repeated setbacks due to Israel’s continued aggression.

Earlier on Monday, the Palestinian resistance announced the suspension of the exchange process, citing Israel’s failure to uphold its commitments. In response, Israeli authorities instructed their military to prepare for "any scenario in Gaza." Despite pressure from Washington, resistance factions have stated that negotiations could resume if Israel adheres to its obligations under the agreement.
