West Bank: Israeli Forces Kill Palestinian in Jenin Raid Amid Ongoing Offensive

Israeli forces have killed a Palestinian during a raid on Jenin, as the regime continues its large-scale military operation across the occupied West Bank. On Tuesday, 4 March, the body of the slain Palestinian was handed over to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society by Israeli troops, according to an Al Jazeera report, though further details were not provided.

The raid saw Israeli armoured military vehicles storming Jenin as part of the ongoing aggressive campaign in the city. This escalation comes as the Jenin refugee camp in the northern West Bank faces relentless violence from the occupying forces.

In a separate incident near Nablus, Israeli troops shot and wounded at least four other Palestinians, including a 13-year-old boy who was struck in the chest by live fire. The large-scale offensive, now in its 43rd day, has claimed the lives of at least 27 Palestinians in Jenin and its refugee camp.

The ongoing Israeli aggression has also forced the displacement of residents and caused widespread destruction to infrastructure and homes. Approximately 120 homes have been completely destroyed, with dozens more partially damaged.

On Monday, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk raised alarms over Tel Aviv’s military actions in the occupied West Bank. Speaking at the 58th session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland, Türk expressed deep concern over “the use of military weapons and tactics, including tanks and airstrikes against Palestinians, the destruction and evacuation of refugee camps, the expansion of illegal settlements, severe movement restrictions, and the displacement of tens of thousands of people.” He emphasised that “Israel’s unilateral actions and threats of annexation in the West Bank, in violation of international law, must cease.”

Meanwhile, the Palestinian Authority’s Commission to Resist the Apartheid Wall and Settlement Activity reported that Israeli forces and settlers carried out 1,705 attacks in February. Muayyed Shaaban, head of the commission, stated that Israeli forces were responsible for 1,475 of these attacks, while settlers conducted 230, according to the official Palestinian news agency Wafa.

The majority of these attacks occurred in Nablus, which recorded 300 incidents, followed by al-Khalil (Hebron) with 267 and Ramallah with 263. The report also noted that Israeli forces carried out 79 demolition operations in February, targeting 156 structures, including 109 inhabited homes.
