The Israeli forces continue detaining the corpse of prisoner martyr Dawood Al-khateeb, from Bethlehem, who died on 2 September in Ofer prison as a result of a slow killing carried out by Israeli authorities against him through deliberate medical negligence ended with a cardiac arrest.
The Prisoner's Club stated, in a statement Thursday, that tomorrow Friday was supposed to be the "date of the martyr al-Khatib freedom”, as his sentence, 18 years and eight months, ends, but the occupation killed him slowly by deliberate medical negligence and that wasn’t enough, but his corpse is still detained until today.
“The martyr Al-Khatib has faced, over the years of his detention, harsh health conditions exacerbated by the violent and oppressive prison administration policies that are used against prisoners. Medical negligence, which is the most prominent of the abusive policies, has caused the death of dozens of prisoners in the jails since 1967,” it added.
Al-Khatib, born in 1975, was arrested in 2002 and sentenced to 18 years and eight months in prison due to his resistance to the occupation. During his years of detention, his parents and brother passed away.
Israel continues detaining the corpses of seven other prisoners as nearly 226 prisoners died in its jails since 1967.
