Prevention of a protest against normalization with Israel in Morocco

Moroccan authorities prevented a protest, organized by 6 civil society associations, against normalization with Israel. It was supposed to be held in front of the parliament building in Rabat.

Security forces spread in the streets and closed all the alleys leading to the parliament building, according to Anadolu Agency.

When Abdelrahman Bin Amro, a lawyer and activist, and Sion Assidon, a Jewish activist, attended, the security forces asked them to leave.

On Sunday, 6 associations called for organizing a protest against normalization with Israel as they considered this step as a "serious development". They also stated in a joint statement that the Moroccan, Arabic, and African systems provide free services for the Jewish entity instead of imposing international sanctions on and isolating it.

On Thursday, Mohammed VI, king of Morocco, announced the resumption of bilateral contact and diplomatic relations with Israel, according to a statement issued by royal court.
