European Coalition launches international solidarity campaign with Palestinian prisoners

The European Coalition for Supporting Palestinian Prisoners launches an international solidarity campaign with the Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails and considering 2021 is their year as loyalty to them.

This came at the end of the sixth virtual conference, titled “All solidarity with sick prisoners and freedom for Palestinian prisoners,” which was held in Ramallah and Europe, with the participation of 45 Arab and European countries, Russia and the United States of America, and continued over the past four days.

The coalition said that the conference comes amid extremely difficult conditions for the Palestinian prisoners, especially the sick prisoners who suffer from a real danger that threatens their lives, in light of the continuing Israeli recklessness and the spread of the coronavirus, and the Israeli prison administrations deny their rights imposed by international laws, which led to the martyrdom; the last of them is the prisoner- martyr Kamal Abu Waer.

It also demanded the release of all administrative detainees, children, women and the elderly, and the release of the bodies of the prisoners- martyrs that were kept in it, and hand them over to their families to be buried according to the rules.

The coalition affirmed its intention to ask the states party to the Third and Fourth Geneva Conventions, to hold an urgent meeting to oblige Israel as the occupying power to respect these laws and apply them to the Palestinian territories, and to call on the United Nations and the Human Rights Council to activate the investigation committees and fact-finding committees about Israeli practices against prisoners, and work to implement its recommendations in this regard.

It called on the international community to take action against Israel and hold it accountable for its crimes against the Palestinian people, and the Palestinian prisoners in particular, and impose international sanctions on it.
