Palestinian and Jewish activists from the peace movements organized a rally in Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in Jerusalem, to protest the forced eviction of 7 Jerusalemite families from the neighborhood in favor of settlers.
The head of the Supreme Follow-up Committee for the Arab People in the Palestinian interior, Muhammad Baraka and Maqdisoun participated in the march.
The march began in front of the American Consulate in Jerusalem towards the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, and then towards homes whose residents were threatened with eviction.
The Israeli forces arrested an Israeli activist whileholding the Palestinian flag during the march, and tried to arrest one.
The participants carried slogans in Arabic, English and Hebrew, titled “No For Occupation,” “Stop Settlements,” and “Democracy or Occupation,” and slogans denouncing the settlements and the evacuation of homes in Jerusalem.
The Israeli Court had issued eviction decisions against 7 Jerusalemite families in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in Jerusalem, in favor of the settlement associations, which are: Al-Sabbagh, Al-Kurd, Al-Qasim, Hammad, Al-Kurd, Iskafi, Dawoodi and Dajani.
The families' lawyers sent an appeal appeal against the eviction decision about two weeks ago to the District Court in Jerusalem.
