A former Israeli parliamentarian has issued a stark warning about the consequences of Israel’s war on Gaza, saying the destruction left behind will haunt the country long after the guns fall silent.
Ksenia Svetlova, an ex-Knesset member, stated that no government narrative will be able to conceal the scale of devastation once international journalists and observers enter Gaza freely. “Entire neighbourhoods have been erased. Orphaned children will be wandering through rubble. Tattered tents will stand where homes once stood. And the wounded, so many of them, will tell the story that Israel wants to bury,” she said in comments published by Zaman, an Israeli outlet.
Svetlova stressed that while international condemnation is already mounting over the worsening humanitarian catastrophe, it is only a preview of what is to come. “When the world sees the full extent of what has been done in Gaza, the criticism will turn into something far more powerful. Israel will be held accountable.”
She also warned that Israel’s growing diplomatic isolation may soon translate into legal consequences. “The silence we are buying now will not last. What’s happening in Gaza will be remembered, and judged, by history and the world.”
Her remarks offer a rare moment of candour from within Israel, acknowledging what Palestinians have long cried out: that the ruins of Gaza will not stay silent. They will speak, and the world will listen.
