The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza has issued a dire warning: the territory is running critically low on blood supplies as casualties from ongoing Israeli attacks continue to surge.
In just one month, local blood banks have distributed nearly 10,000 units of blood and components, but replenishment has fallen drastically short, with only about 3,500 units donated in return. Community drives struggle to keep pace amid worsening health conditions, widespread malnutrition, and soaring rates of anemia, which drastically limit the population’s ability to donate.
With hospitals stretched to breaking point, the ministry urgently calls on international humanitarian organisations to intervene immediately, supplying blood and vital medical resources to save lives. In Gaza, every drop counts, and without urgent support, countless lives hang in the balance.
