Israeli Forces and Settlers Escalate Violence Across Occupied West Bank

Israeli occupation forces (IOF) and extremist settlers launched widespread attacks across the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem on Sunday, leaving several Palestinians injured and sparking fear among local communities.

In Al-Ram, north of Jerusalem, Israeli soldiers opened live fire at a group of youths near the separation barrier, injuring a young man who was taken to hospital with a leg wound. In Tulkarem governorate, violent raids in the refugee camp and nearby towns resulted in injuries and arrests, including the assault of Ahmad Subhi Sanjaq during a home raid that saw his brother Ali detained. Military vehicles were also deployed in Anabta, Bal’a, and Deir al-Ghusun, severely restricting movement.

Near Jenin, soldiers fired live ammunition at the vehicle of Sheikh Muhammad Salah, Mufti of the Palestinian Security Forces, before assaulting his escort and confiscating the car. Meanwhile, in Bethlehem’s southeast, settlers attacked Palestinian homes in Wadi Sa’ir, hurling stones and threatening to set properties alight, leaving residents in panic.

These assaults are part of a broader surge in violence coinciding with the ongoing genocide in Gaza. In recent weeks, the West Bank has witnessed nearly 1,000 Palestinians killed, around 7,000 wounded, and over 18,000 detained, underscoring the relentless and systematic oppression faced by Palestinians under occupation.
