Top Israeli rabbi prays in Dubai

Israel's top Jewish rabbi, on Sunday, inaugurated a Jewish nursery school in Dubai and made a special Jewish ritual for the safety of the ruling family in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), according to Israeli media.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry’s “Israel in Arabic” account published, on Sunday, photos of the visit of the Sephardi Chief Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef (Eastern religious Jews), to the first Arab country, and his opening of the first nursery for the Jewish children, in Dubai.

In a related context, the delegate of the Israeli site Kikar HaShabbat stated the details of the visit of the Chief Rabbi to the Emirates.


Yosef has arrived Dubai on Thursday after being invited by the Jewish community there.

A new building for Torah study was inaugurated, on Friday, in Dubai, after the current place became narrow and did not accommodate all children, according to the Israeli site.

The rabbi inspected the site designated for the establishment of the Purity Bath or "Mikvah Tahara", which is a water reservoir, which leads to indulging in devotional purity, in addition to using it to purify utensils and tools purchased from non-Jews, as women use it for purification from the menstrual cycle.

“The aforementioned bath will be the first in the Gulf countries, and it will serve all countries of the region, including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, and others," according to the same source.

The rabbi, on Saturday evening, began writing the first Torah manuscript in the Emirates, and led a special prayer for the safety of the Emirati ruling family and all citizens of the Emirates.

Yousef, on Sunday, will hold a series of meetings in the capital Abu Dhabi with the ministers of tolerance, culture, and health.


According to Israeli figures, some 3,000 Jews live in the UAE, mostly in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Israel and the UAE signed a US-sponsored deal in September to normalize their relations.
