Famine in Gaza has reached devastating levels, with the World Food Programme warning of a “near-total failure” in humanitarian aid delivery as Israel’s blockade enters its 662nd day. The WFP reported that all 55 aid trucks allowed in on Monday were looted by starving crowds before reaching their destinations, underscoring the desperation and collapse of order in a besieged territory where hunger has become weaponised.
Gaza’s authorities accused Israel of deliberately engineering chaos by directing aid trucks into unsafe areas without coordination or protection, forcing civilians into dangerous scrambles for food. They warned that these conditions are being used to deepen the humanitarian collapse while airstrikes and siege policies continue unabated.
The Ministry of Health confirmed that famine has already claimed over 130 lives, most of them children, while hundreds of thousands endure extreme hunger amid crumbling infrastructure and vanishing healthcare. Despite urgent calls from aid agencies for secure delivery corridors and accountability, the international response remains paralysed, leaving Gaza’s population to face starvation and bombardment in isolation.
