The religious and societal cohesion of the Palestinian people will not be shaken by any passing event, said Basim Naim, a member of the International Relations Office of the Hamas movement, in a press release yesterday.
Naim stressed that the good relationship with Christians is not the result of a political stance or tactical diligence for specific circumstances, but rather religion and belief, based on the commandment of the Holy Qur’an for righteousness and kindness to them, stressing that Muslims and Christians are the children of this looted country, and they enjoy the full citizenship of rights and duties.
"Hamas has, throughout its history, enjoyed strong and deep relations with the Christian family, and with all its sects and churches in the homeland and diaspora, based on the concept of partnership in the homeland, and this relationship has been clearly manifested in many political, social, religious and union occasions," he added.
Also, he pointed out that "we live under a racist, fascist occupation that targets all the Palestinian people and that no distinction is made between a Christian and a Muslim, between the Church and the Mosque or between the Monk and the Sheikh."
