Gaza Has Shown the World the Truth

The genocide in Gaza has entered its second year, with more than 61,000 Palestinians killed since October 2023, the majority women and children. Three quarters of the population has been displaced, infrastructure lies in ruins, and famine has been deliberately imposed through a total blockade. Gaza today stands as undeniable evidence of Israel’s crimes and the collapse of the so-called international order.

What is unfolding is not an isolated episode but the continuation of a century-long project. From the armed Zionist militias of the 1920s to the Nakba of 1948, when more than 750,000 Palestinians were expelled, the aim has always been to erase a people and seize their land. The massacres of today are rooted in that same policy of dispossession.

This genocide has been enabled by Western complicity. The United States continues to arm Israel with $3.8 billion in annual military aid, alongside emergency weapons shipments since October 2023. Most European governments, Canada, and Australia have provided political, military, and diplomatic cover. Only after nearly two years of destruction have some begun to issue cautious words of concern, far too little and far too late.

The “two-state solution” so often invoked by Western leaders offers no justice and no true sovereignty. It would leave Palestinians stripped of control over their borders, airspace, and resources, a powerless entity under permanent Israeli domination. Meanwhile, many Arab regimes have betrayed the Palestinian cause, normalising ties with Israel, hosting its officials, facilitating arms transfers, and suppressing their own people’s solidarity.

Against this betrayal, it is ordinary Palestinians, journalists, activists, and survivors, who continue to stand firm, exposing Israel’s crimes to the world. Their steadfastness is a reminder that silence is complicity, and that justice requires action. Every person has a duty to resist hypocrisy, strengthen solidarity, and push relentlessly for liberation.
