Anas Al-Sharif: Chronicler of Gaza’s Pain and Resilience

Anas Al-Sharif was more than a journalist; he was a lifeline for Gaza, capturing the daily suffering of a people trapped by siege, famine, and relentless violence. Born and raised in Jabalia refugee camp, Anas reported from the front lines with honesty and deep compassion, giving a human face to the crisis.

Despite repeated threats and the bombing of his home that claimed his father’s life, Anas refused to abandon his post. “Gaza has no voice if I leave,” he declared. His reports highlighted the dire conditions, from starving families to overwhelmed hospitals, never shying away from the harsh realities.

On 10 August 2025, while documenting the plight of the wounded, Anas was killed in a drone strike targeting journalists near Al-Shifa Medical Complex. His final message affirmed his commitment: “They have silenced me, but not the truth.”

Anas’s legacy lives on in every story told and every eye that sees Gaza’s struggle. His voice remains a powerful reminder of the human cost behind the headlines and the resilience of those who refuse to be forgotten.
