Gaza’s Health Sector on the Brink as Shortages Claim More Lives

The head of medical relief in Gaza has warned that critical shortages of medicines and essential supplies are causing a sharp rise in preventable deaths, particularly among malnourished children, women, and the elderly. With aid deliveries heavily restricted, hospitals are struggling to provide even the most urgent life-saving care.

He described a healthcare system collapsing under relentless Israeli attacks and a severe lack of both resources and personnel. Medical teams, already exhausted, are working in overcrowded and under-equipped facilities, forced to make impossible choices about who receives treatment.

The crisis, he said, is not only a consequence of the ongoing blockade but a deliberate restriction on essential aid, leaving thousands at risk of dying from treatable conditions. As supplies dwindle and the strain on healthcare workers intensifies, the prospect of saving lives in Gaza grows increasingly bleak.
