Gaza Mourns Six Journalists Killed in Targeted Israeli Airstrike

Gaza City was gripped by grief on Monday as hundreds gathered to mourn six journalists killed in an Israeli airstrike near Al-Shifa Medical Complex on Sunday evening. The victims, Anas Al-Sharif, Mohammed Qreiqa, Ibrahim Zaher, Mohammed Noufal, Moamen Alouwa, and Mohammed Al-Khaldi, were honoured in a funeral procession that began at Al-Shifa Hospital and continued to cemeteries across the city.

Colleagues, fellow journalists, and citizens carried the bodies through the streets, offering prayers and marking a devastating loss for Gaza’s press. The attack, which struck a journalists’ tent, has been widely condemned by Palestinian officials and international organisations as a deliberate attempt to silence media coverage and obscure the reality of Israel’s ongoing military campaign, which some fear could escalate into a full-scale occupation.

Gaza’s Government Media Office reported that the death toll of journalists since the start of Israel’s war on Gaza has now reached 238, highlighting the acute danger faced by those documenting the humanitarian catastrophe.
