UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini has revealed that Israel has barred humanitarian aid deliveries to Gaza for more than five months, despite warehouses in Egypt and Jordan holding enough food, medicine, and hygiene supplies to fill 6,000 trucks.
Lazzarini said the blockade has left Gaza’s population facing catastrophic shortages, with families struggling to find food, medicine, and even the most basic necessities. He stressed that UNRWA and other aid agencies are urging an immediate ceasefire and the entry of aid under UN supervision to ensure it reaches civilians in desperate need.
The continued denial of humanitarian access has deepened the suffering of millions in Gaza, where famine, disease, and displacement are tightening their grip under the weight of Israel’s ongoing siege.
