Haaretz reported on Monday that Australian authorities have revoked the entry visa of Knesset member Simcha Rothman, citing extremist remarks made on social media and at public events. Rothman was scheduled to travel to Melbourne to take part in a series of events with the Jewish community.
The cancellation, which also bars him from applying for a new visa for three years, followed scrutiny of his statements calling for the “elimination of Hamas,” the expansion of Israeli sovereignty, and the outright denial of atrocities committed against Palestinians in Gaza during the ongoing war.
The decision marks a rare move by Australia against a sitting Israeli lawmaker, reflecting growing international unease with Israel’s conduct in Gaza and the inflammatory rhetoric of its political figures.
