Demonstrations in solidarity with Palestine filled the streets of Chicago on Sunday, as protesters demanded an immediate end to U.S. military and financial backing for Israel and called for urgent action to stop what they denounced as genocide in Gaza.
Speakers at the rally said the weekly mobilisations reflect a refusal to remain silent in the face of mass killings, forced displacement and deliberate starvation policies. Organisers pledged to sustain pressure until justice is achieved, stressing that the movement exposes U.S. complicity in Israel’s war.
Since October 2023, Israel’s assault on Gaza, enabled by U.S. support, has killed more than 62,600 Palestinians and wounded over 157,000, according to local health authorities. Most of the victims have been women and children, with thousands still missing under the rubble.
