Gaza Municipality has sounded the alarm over the looming collapse of essential services, warning that the city is on the brink of a full humanitarian breakdown as threats of a ground invasion intensify.
More than 1.2 million people, including both residents and displaced families, are trapped in devastating conditions. Homes lie in ruins, roads are impassable, water wells have been destroyed, and uncollected waste continues to pile up. Vital infrastructure has been shattered since October 2023, from sewage networks to public facilities, leaving the city unable to function under siege. With fuel and equipment barred from entry, basic services have become impossible to maintain.
The municipality stressed that there is no safe refuge left, as extreme overcrowding and mass displacement have pushed the city beyond capacity. In its campaign “Life for Gaza, Stop the Genocide,” officials appealed to the international community to intervene immediately, protect civilians, and uphold their right to life in the face of relentless destruction.
