The Islamic Resistance Movement has called on the Arab League, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, and the United Nations to intervene immediately to stop the genocide unfolding in Gaza. The appeal follows Israel’s announcement that it had killed Abu Obeida, the long-time military spokesperson of the Qassam Brigades, who for nearly two decades had been one of the most recognisable voices of the movement.
The call for urgent action comes at a moment of rising international awareness, with recent polls showing that younger generations in the United States increasingly recognise the scale of Israel’s atrocities. A majority of Americans aged 18–24 now express support for Palestinian resistance, while half of respondents across all ages believe that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza.
Since October 2023, Israel, backed by Washington, has carried out a campaign that has left more than 63,000 Palestinians dead and over 160,000 wounded, the majority of them women and children. Thousands remain missing under the rubble, while hundreds of thousands have been forced from their homes. Amid relentless bombardment and siege, calls for decisive international action are intensifying as Gaza endures one of the darkest chapters in modern history.
