“The recent Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip targeted a main water line on Salah al-Din Road, northeast of the city, and the bombing also affected many private and pupbic economic and service facilities,” Ahmed Abu Ras, the Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government said.
“The water line that was bombed is one of the main water lines which feeds about 50% of the city’s area and pumps 800 cups per hour, noting that the total amount pumped into this pipeline is about 900 m3 / hour,” Abu Ras confirmed.
He pointed out that after counting the damages by the Gaza municipality, it was found that the total costs of maintenance work on roads, sidewalks, water networks, and lighting networks are estimated at 27,580 US dollars.
This targeting worsens living conditions and increases the suffering of citizens, especially in light of the severe shortage of the necessary fuel for the municipality's work.
In addition, he indicated that the repeated Israeli targeting of infrastructure in the Gaza Strip, especially in light of the Israeli blockade and the repercussions of the Coronavirus pandemic, negatively affects on the daily life of citizens.
Abu Ras called on all parties and institutions to stand by the Palestinian people in their ordeal by stopping the aggression and supporting the service and economic sectors.
