September has been one of the deadliest months yet in Gaza, with more than 2,100 people losing their lives under unrelenting bombardment. Entire neighbourhoods have been erased, families torn apart, and survivors left fleeing through shattered streets in search of safety that no longer exists.
The heaviest toll was recorded in the north, where waves of strikes levelled residential blocks and forced tens of thousands to abandon their homes. Central and southern areas were also hit, with hundreds more killed as the attacks spread further across the strip. Residents speak of whole districts reduced to rubble, where those who remain are surrounded by fire, hunger, and grief.
Since October 2023, the death toll has climbed to over 66,000, with tens of thousands more injured. The siege has created a famine that has already claimed hundreds of lives, including many children. After nearly two years of war, Gaza is enduring one of the darkest chapters in modern history, with warnings that the scale of destruction and suffering will scar generations to come.
