Israeli Forces Abduct Gaza Nurse, Daughter of Imprisoned Doctor

Israeli special forces have abducted a young nurse, Tasnīm al-Hums, from a medical point in al-Mawasi, Khan Younis, in an operation echoing the earlier kidnapping of her father, a senior Gaza doctor. Witnesses say a covert unit stormed the facility during her shift, seizing her in front of colleagues and patients.

Her father, Dr. Marwan al-Hums, director of Abu Yūsuf al-Najjar Hospital and head of Gaza’s field hospitals, was taken in July during a visit to a Red Cross field hospital in Khan Younis. He was shot in the leg, assaulted, and later transferred to Ashkelon prison, where he remains detained without proper legal access. Rights groups have denounced his case as a flagrant breach of international law.

The abduction of his daughter is part of a wider campaign targeting Gaza’s medical staff. According to health officials, at least 361 healthcare workers are currently imprisoned under similar conditions. Human rights defenders warn that these enforced disappearances are designed not only to silence Gaza’s medical community but to cripple an already collapsing health system, leaving civilians even more vulnerable as the war and blockade grind on.
