62 Killed in Gaza as Ceasefire Call is Ignored

At least 62 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli airstrikes since early Saturday morning, even after a ceasefire proposal and calls for an end to the violence. The dead include civilians targeted in deliberate strikes, underscoring the continuation of Israel’s genocidal campaign despite offers to halt hostilities.

Medical sources in Gaza report that 45 of the victims were killed in Gaza City alone, which has endured relentless bombardment since early September. Among those killed was a family of 18 civilians, including seven children, when an airstrike destroyed their residential block in the Tuffah neighbourhood. Over 40 others were injured, with at least 15 still trapped under rubble, according to rescue teams.

The deaths came hours after former U.S. President Donald Trump called for an immediate ceasefire, following a proposal by Hamas to exchange all captives for a full withdrawal of Israeli forces. Hamas confirmed its readiness to comply, describing the offer as an opportunity to end the war and return Gaza to its people.

Despite these proposals, Israel intensified its bombardment. Officials and humanitarian advocates have condemned the continuation of attacks, saying it undermines diplomatic efforts and deepens the suffering of Gaza’s civilian population. For those on the ground, the strikes are not isolated acts of war but part of a systematic campaign that leaves devastation in its wake.
