Palestinian Resistance Groups Announce First Phase of Ceasefire, Praise Gaza’s Endurance

Palestinian resistance groups have announced the launch of the first phase of a plan to end Israel’s genocidal war in Gaza, praising the resilience and determination of Gaza’s population in the face of relentless attacks.

In a joint statement released Friday, Hamas, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) hailed what they described as a “national success” born from the steadfastness of the Palestinian people and their resistance fighters. The groups noted that despite the loss of approximately 67,200 lives, the Gaza population prevented Israel from achieving its objectives, including total occupation and mass displacement.

Under the ceasefire, Hamas agreed to release remaining Israeli captives while local Palestinian authorities will administer the territory. The resistance emphasised that no foreign oversight should govern Gaza, although international and Arab aid for reconstruction is welcome if it respects Palestinian sovereignty.

The statement also acknowledged the support of allies including Iran, Lebanon, Yemen, and Iraq, as well as mediation efforts by Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey. It praised the unprecedented global solidarity with Gaza, from international demonstrations to humanitarian flotillas breaking the blockade. According to the groups, the Palestinian cause has now become a universal moral and humanitarian issue, while Israel remains increasingly isolated and condemned for its actions.
