Calls for Extermination of Palestinian Prisoners Escalate in Israeli Prisons

The Prisoners’ Media Office has warned of an intensifying campaign of brutality inside Israeli prisons, highlighting repeated public statements by extremist government minister Itamar Ben Gvir advocating the killing and torture of Palestinian detainees. According to the office, these inflammatory remarks are part of a coordinated policy by Israel’s far‑right leadership targeting Palestinian prisoners, and are amplified through official platforms and media outlets.

This escalation coincides with legislative initiatives in the Israeli Knesset aimed at establishing a law permitting the execution of Palestinian prisoners and creating “special courts” lacking basic legal protections to try prisoners from Gaza. Experts warn that these measures could set a dangerous precedent, effectively legitimising lethal violence within detention facilities. Released detainees’ testimonies have revealed systemic abuses, including torture, deprivation of medical care, starvation, and even field executions, illustrating the grim reality behind the political rhetoric.

The office emphasises that this policy of extermination is conducted under the direct oversight of Ben Gvir and Israeli security services. Far‑right factions are reportedly exploiting the prisoners’ suffering for political gain, using it as a tool for electoral propaganda while showcasing institutional hostility toward Palestinian detainees and their symbolic resistance.

International scrutiny, the office insists, is urgently needed. It calls for the formation of an independent investigative committee to hold Israeli officials accountable, halt ongoing abuses, and restore unrestricted access for Red Cross inspections and family visits. The warnings underscore that the plight of Palestinian prisoners is not an isolated issue, but a critical front in the broader struggle against systemic oppression and violence.
