Hamas Vows Resistance Amidst Resumption of Hostilities in Gaza

The Palestinian political and resistance movement Hamas has issued a statement asserting that the intensification of Israeli military strikes across Gaza represents a deliberate effort to undermine recent ceasefire agreements and impose a new reality by force. The group holds the Israeli government entirely responsible for what it describes as a dangerous escalation and its consequences for the civilian population. The statement further suggested that these actions are an attempt to sabotage the diplomatic framework that had previously led to the truce.

In its communiqué, the movement strongly criticised the United States' consistent diplomatic support for Israel, characterising it as complicity in the ongoing violence against the Palestinian people. The statement insisted that all Palestinian factions remain committed to the ceasefire agreement but will not allow the creation of new, unilaterally imposed facts on the ground through military action. It called upon international mediators and the guarantors of the truce to exert pressure on the Israeli government to cease its operations and adhere to the agreed-upon terms.

The resumption of widespread aerial and artillery attacks follows a period of fragile calm and has reportedly resulted in a significant number of Palestinian casualties, including many children. The latest escalation underscores the profound instability of the situation, with Palestinian sources indicating that the death toll is expected to rise as rescue operations continue to search for individuals missing under the rubble of destroyed buildings.
