Iran Condemns Renewed Airstrikes Across Gaza

The Iranian government has issued a forceful condemnation of the extensive aerial bombardment carried out by Israeli forces across the Gaza Strip. The strikes, which reportedly targeted areas in the north, centre, and south of the territory, including sites within displaced persons' encampments, are said to have resulted in a significant number of Palestinian casualties, many of whom were children. The Iranian foreign ministry spokesman characterised the attacks as a severe breach of international legal and moral standards.

In an official statement, the spokesman asserted that the military operations, authorised directly by the Israeli Prime Minister, demonstrate a clear intent to continue a genocidal war against the Palestinian people. He emphasised that these actions, coming after a period of truce, significantly heighten the legal obligation of all nations to act. He invoked the international Genocide Convention, calling on governments to fulfil their duty to halt these acts and ensure accountability for those responsible.

The condemnation further highlighted the role of unwavering international support, particularly from the United States, in enabling the ongoing violence. A central point of the statement was a call to the guarantors of the recent ceasefire to assume their responsibilities and restrain what was described as the aggressive and destructive ambitions of the Israeli government, which continue to perpetuate a devastating human toll.
