West Bank Communities Endure Rising Child Deaths and Widespread Destruction

The situation across the West Bank has grown increasingly grave, with the number of children killed this year continuing to rise amid intensifying violence. Since January, dozens of young Palestinians have lost their lives as raids, land seizures, and settler incursions expand across towns and refugee camps. Families already strained by the wider genocidal war are now facing an additional wave of displacement, with more than a thousand people forced from their homes in the past months alone.

Entire neighbourhoods in Jenin, Nur Shams, and Tulkarem have been left shattered, as recent satellite imagery shows extensive damage to hundreds of buildings. Residents describe scenes of devastation where homes, community centres, and essential infrastructure once stood. Many say that the scale of destruction mirrors the growing sense that these areas are being systematically emptied, leaving families struggling to rebuild in spaces where even basic safety can no longer be guaranteed.

Settler attacks have also surged, leaving children among the injured as farmlands are burned, olive harvests blocked, and houses targeted. In several villages, families have been driven out after their homes were set on fire, while surrounding lands were closed off under the pretext of “security”, only to be opened to new settler expansion shortly after. Local monitoring groups say thousands of incidents involving both settlers and the military were recorded in a single month, reflecting a pattern that is steadily eroding the social and economic foundations of Palestinian life across the West Bank.
