The Minister of Health, Mai Al-Kaileh, warned of the danger of the Coronavirus outbreak among Palestinian prisoners, especially in light of the great overcrowding in prisons and the presence of hundreds of sick and elderly prisoners.
“All Israeli prisons are exposed to be extremely infested with Coronavirus, which means that all the Palestinian prisoners are highly vulnerable to be infected with the COVID-19, which puts their lives at risk, especially the sick prisoners who are 700 prisoners, including the chronic and cancer patients and the elderly,” Al-Kaila confirmed, on Sunday, in a statement reached Safa.
This comes in light of the high number of infections among prisoners with Coronavirus in Section 3 of Ktzi'ot Prison, she indicated.
Israeli authorities are fully responsible for the fate and lives of the prisoners in Ktzi'ot Prison especially since it held more than 1,200 prisoners, including elderly and sick, according to the Palestinian prisoner club data.
Alkaileh called on the international community for the need to pressure Israel to immediately release the sick and elderly prisoners in an urgent manner, and the necessity for a neutral medical committee to oversee the results of prisoners samples and their health conditions.
