A young Palestinian man was killed and at least two others detained during operations carried out by Israeli forces across the West Bank. Local reports indicate that troops surrounded a home late on Friday, deploying stun grenades before entering, resulting in the death of a 24-year-old police officer. Medical teams were reportedly prevented from reaching him in time, and his body was removed by the military.
In separate raids, additional young men were detained near refugee camps and in northern areas of the Jordan Valley. Witnesses reported that soldiers entered neighbourhoods, damaging property and holding prisoners for hours under harsh conditions. The scale of these operations has left communities on edge, with families facing increasing insecurity amid continuing military presence.
The raids coincide with settler-led violence, including the torching of homes and farms near Ramallah. These developments follow a 2024 advisory from the International Court of Justice, which deemed Israel’s decades-long occupation of historic Palestine unlawful and called for the removal of settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem. While not legally binding, the ruling carries weight in international law and underlines the ongoing humanitarian and legal challenges faced by residents.
