Algeria’s president has reiterated his country’s unwavering commitment to supporting those enduring the ongoing genocidal war in the occupied territories, emphasising that fundamental rights, including self-determination and the creation of an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital, remain non-negotiable. Speaking through a senior minister during an international observance day, the president underscored that years of systematic destruction, forced displacement, hunger, and the collapse of essential services have not extinguished the determination of people living under occupation to recover their legitimate rights.
He stressed that the extensive devastation in Gaza, including the dismantling of key infrastructure and the obstruction of medical services, is part of a wider strategy aimed at making life untenable. Yet, he insisted that these conditions have instead drawn increasing international awareness. Global demonstrations, shifting diplomatic positions, and a rising number of formal recognitions of Palestinian statehood were cited as evidence that public opinion is steadily turning toward accountability and relief for a population forced into extraordinary resilience.
Algeria also urged the international community to intensify efforts to uphold international law, calling for the immediate lifting of all restrictions on Gaza and the opening of every crossing point to allow unhindered humanitarian assistance. The president further reaffirmed Algeria’s longstanding position in favour of granting Palestine full membership at the United Nations, viewing it as a crucial step toward securing autonomy and establishing an independent state with full sovereignty. He concluded by affirming that Algeria will continue to stand firmly alongside those living under occupation, pledging to support their pursuit of freedom and dignity.
