A coalition of international rights advocates has urged Canadian authorities to take legal action against two former senior Israeli officials ahead of their expected arrival in Toronto. The organisations have submitted a detailed complaint alleging that both figures bear responsibility for grave violations committed during the 2008–2009 genocidal war in Gaza, calling on Canada to fulfil its legal duties when individuals suspected of such offences enter the country.

The submission outlines a series of incidents from that period in which civilians, residential areas and essential infrastructure were subjected to large-scale destruction. The complainants argue that the severity of these events warrants immediate scrutiny under Canadian legislation governing war crimes and crimes against humanity. They maintain that Canada, having incorporated international norms into domestic law, cannot ignore credible allegations linked to that conflict.

Central to the appeal is the request for an official investigation and, if warranted, arrest warrants for the visiting former officials. The groups say Canadian law, together with obligations arising from the Geneva Conventions, requires action when individuals suspected of serious breaches arrive on Canadian soil. They insist that accountability mechanisms must apply equally, regardless of political stature or past governmental roles.
