Gaza’s Future Must Be Decided by Its Own People, Says Senior Resistance Figu

A senior Palestinian resistance leader has insisted that Gaza’s future must remain firmly in the hands of its own people, rejecting any attempt by external powers to impose political oversight or administrative control. Speaking at a time when the genocidal war has eased in intensity but not in impact, he warned that the population continues to endure a suffocating blockade, manufactured hunger and extensive collective punishment.

He argued that these measures are aimed at forcing Gaza into submission, describing them as part of a strategy designed to reshape the region in line with Israeli objectives. Such policies, he said, threaten not only Gaza’s survival but the stability of the wider region.

The official reiterated that armed resistance must be protected as a safeguard against expanding settlement activity in the occupied West Bank and the forced displacement of its residents. He emphasised that securing the release of all Palestinian political prisoners held in Israeli jails remains an urgent priority and should be treated as a central national cause.

He added that the West Bank itself faces a critical moment, urging coordinated efforts to halt ongoing land seizures, demographic engineering and the intensification of settler presence. Only unity, he said, can ensure that Palestinians maintain control over their own political decisions and prevent any single faction from monopolising national leadership.

The leader ruled out any prospect of normalising relations with Israel, stating that the state has consistently acted outside regional norms and cannot be integrated into the political landscape as a trusted partner. He called for renewed legal and diplomatic action before international bodies, arguing that accountability is essential for the victims of the genocide in Gaza and across the occupied territories.
