The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor has said ongoing US backing is allowing Israel to continue its genocidal war in Gaza, citing Washington’s financial, military, and diplomatic support. According to the report, aid in the form of weapons, ammunition, logistical assistance, and intelligence has helped Israel maintain its operations against the civilian population, undermining the survival of Gaza’s residents.

The monitor highlighted that US support has coincided with widespread devastation across Gaza, including attacks on residential areas, the tightening of the blockade, and obstruction of humanitarian aid. These actions have forced hundreds of thousands into extreme hardship, intensified displacement, and left essential services, including healthcare, on the brink of collapse. The report also noted that the Rafah crossing remains closed to the evacuation of more than 18,000 sick and wounded patients, with over 1,000 dying since July 2024 while awaiting medical treatment abroad.

The organisation stressed that US political cover contributes to ongoing violations of international law, including obligations under the Genocide and Geneva Conventions. It called for the immediate suspension of all US political, military, and logistical support for Israel and urged the international community to halt arms transfers, enable unrestricted humanitarian aid, and ensure the safe return of displaced civilians. It further appealed for urgent international investigations into crimes committed in Gaza and swift action to prevent a deepening humanitarian catastrophe as winter conditions worsen.
