The humanitarian situation in Gaza continues to spiral, with senior diplomats from ten countries warning of a sharp deterioration in living conditions across the territory. In a joint statement, foreign ministers from Europe, North America and East Asia said Gaza remains in a catastrophic state, as the effects of a genocidal war and prolonged restrictions leave civilians struggling to survive without adequate shelter, healthcare or food.

According to the statement, more than a million people are still searching for safe accommodation, while a significant share of medical facilities are operating only partially or have ceased functioning altogether. Acute food insecurity now affects the majority of Gaza’s population, with families increasingly dependent on dwindling aid supplies. The ministers urged Israeli authorities to ensure sustained and predictable access for humanitarian assistance, warning that delays and uncertainty are accelerating the breakdown of essential services.

Particular concern was raised over new registration and operating requirements imposed on international aid organisations. Diplomats cautioned that dozens of long-established groups risk being forced to suspend their work if approvals are withdrawn, a move that could trigger the closure of health facilities and cut off lifesaving support for hundreds of thousands. Previous access bans have already reduced aid capacity, including programmes serving large numbers of children.

While the statement acknowledged limited steps towards reducing bloodshed in Gaza, it stressed that these measures have not translated into real relief on the ground. With crossings still restricted and reconstruction materials barred, the daily reality for Gaza’s 2.2 million residents remains one of exposure, hunger and insecurity. The warning from the ten countries underlines growing international anxiety that, without immediate changes, the humanitarian collapse will deepen further.
