Shawa Tower Hit Again in Central Gaza City

In the heart of Gaza City, the Shawa Tower has once again been subjected to destructive fire, deepening the scars already left by months of genocidal war. Residents described a sudden explosion high in the building, followed by sustained shelling that shook the surrounding neighbourhood. The structure, long damaged and visibly weakened, endured further devastation as flames and debris spread through its upper levels.

Witnesses said an explosive drone struck first, tearing through floors that had remained standing despite earlier attacks. Moments later, artillery fire hit the same site, compounding the damage and rendering large sections of the tower uninhabitable. The repeated targeting of a building already in ruins has intensified fears among civilians sheltering nearby, many of whom have nowhere else to go amid the collapse of housing across the city.

Once known as a centre for media offices, the Shawa Tower has in recent months become a last refuge for displaced families. With shelters overcrowded and safe spaces increasingly scarce, its remaining rooms were occupied by those fleeing destruction elsewhere. The latest attack has forced survivors to flee yet again, underscoring the relentless pressure on civilian life during the ongoing genocidal war.

This incident unfolds despite a ceasefire that was meant to halt such strikes. On the ground, however, daily realities suggest otherwise, as communities continue to face bombardment, displacement and the erosion of what little security remains.
