226 Palestinian prisoners killed in Israeli prisons since 1967

Some 226 Palestinian prisoners have been killed in the Israeli prisons since 1967, in addition to other hundreds of prisoners who died shortly after their release, as a result of diseases and injuries they got during the years of their detention, reported the Prisoners Club.

The Prisoners Club said in a statement, a copy of which obtained by Safa, that around 75 prisoners were killed as a result of deliberate killing, 7 died immediately after they were shot by Israeli forces, and 71 as a result of the medical negligence policy (slow killing) implemented by the prison administration, through a set of abusive means, most notably the denial of their right to treatment.

"The physical and psychological torture operations were the most prominent of the systematic policies that led to the killing of 73 prisoners over the past decades, and which have escalated again since the end of 2019," it added.

During the past ten years, 29 prisoners were killed due to the policy of medical neglect. In the year 2020, four prisoners were killed in the Israeli prisons: Nour al-Din Barghouti, Saadi al-Gharabli, Dawood al-Khatib, and Kamal Abu Waer.
