Civilian Killed as Israeli Fire Persists Despite Truce in Gaza

A Palestinian civilian was killed on Monday morning after Israeli shelling struck the Shuja’iyya district on the eastern edge of Gaza City, as renewed military fire was reported across the enclave despite an agreed truce. Residents described a dawn marked by explosions and sustained gunfire, underscoring the fragility of the ceasefire amid an ongoing genocidal war.

Further south, artillery rounds landed east of Khan Younis, while Rafah came under additional shelling. Witnesses said gunfire was also directed toward Al-Mawasi, an area where many displaced families have sought relative safety. Along the coast, Israeli naval vessels were seen firing toward the shoreline off Gaza City, adding to the sense of insecurity felt by civilians.

In the north, armoured vehicles opened heavy fire toward Jabalia refugee camp, alarming residents already living with severe shortages and repeated displacement. The incidents follow a pattern of reported breaches since the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas came into effect on 10 October last year, leaving communities across the Gaza Strip fearful that the truce is eroding under the weight of continued violence linked to the wider genocidal war.
