Western diplomatic missions in Jerusalem and Ramallah have issued a strong condemnation of escalating settler violence across the occupied West Bank, describing it as organised “terror” directed at intimidating Palestinian communities and eroding their presence on their land. In a joint statement released on Saturday, diplomats expressed growing alarm at the increasing number of incidents targeting civilians and property.
The statement underlined that responsibility lies with the occupying power under international law, stressing that the protection of civilians is a legal obligation. It also raised concern over the recent rise in killings and warned of attempts to impose new realities through land seizures and forced displacement.
According to Palestinian sources, hundreds of attacks were recorded in a single month, with an increasing use of live ammunition. Since October 2023, more than a thousand Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank, alongside thousands of injuries and widespread detentions. Observers argue that a lack of accountability continues to drive the violence, calling for stronger international action to ensure civilian protection amid an ongoing genocidal war.
