The Central Elections Commission in Ramallah has confirmed extensive preparations to ensure transparency ahead of the local elections scheduled for April 2026. Civil society groups, monitoring organisations, and media outlets are being granted accreditation to observe and report on the vote, reflecting an effort to bolster public confidence in the electoral process.
So far, 50 monitoring organisations have been approved, with around 800 observers expected to cover polling stations across the West Bank. Additionally, 52 local and international media outlets, along with 360 journalists, have received accreditation, enabling broad and comprehensive coverage of the elections.
Officials emphasise that these measures are designed to safeguard the integrity of the vote and provide voters with clear, accurate information. Preparations are reported to be on schedule for the April 25 polling date, highlighting a continued commitment to transparent and accountable local governance.
