A maritime initiative involving activists from multiple countries has set sail from Barcelona toward Gaza, aiming to draw attention to the ongoing blockade and the humanitarian situation in the territory. The convoy, described by organisers as a symbolic effort to challenge restrictions on movement and access, has been met with public statements of support from political and resistance figures in the region.
In comments released from abroad, a Palestinian political movement praised the participants, characterising their voyage as an act of civil solidarity and a stand against what it described as an unlawful blockade affecting more than two million people. The statement emphasised the participation of hundreds of volunteers from across dozens of countries, framing the initiative as evidence of growing international rejection of the conditions imposed on Gaza.
The movement further argued that repeated civilian-led maritime attempts reflect persistent global opposition to the blockade despite previous interceptions of similar efforts at sea. It called for an escalation of international mobilisation and greater diplomatic and legal pressure to ensure the protection of such initiatives, while also urging international institutions to intervene in order to prevent interference with the flotilla.
