Iran Calls for Stronger International Action on Palestine at Nakba Anniversary Event

At a United Nations event marking the 78th anniversary of the Nakba, Iran’s ambassador urged the international community to move beyond symbolic expressions of support for Palestinians and adopt what he described as more concrete political and diplomatic action regarding the situation in the occupied territories.

He said decades of displacement, occupation and violence against Palestinians required a stronger international response focused on addressing what he described as the root causes of the crisis. He added that Palestinians continue to be denied fundamental rights, including self-determination, despite maintaining their national identity and political aspirations.

The ambassador called for what he described as greater global mobilisation, arguing that existing international approaches had failed to deliver justice or lasting peace. He also stated that the future of Palestine should be determined by Palestinians themselves and criticised what he described as inconsistencies in international policy.
